This may come as no surprise but I am getting really excited/anxious about the upcoming ticket sale for the 2015 expo. I have no doubt that I will be getting a ticket (unlike the comic con registration process) but it is the matter of upgrading to the exclusive Sorcerer's pass.

So... my dilemma is whether to dive in and drop the 2k necessary for the sorcerer's upgrade. I have taken some thought in this process, creating a pro/con list of reasons to do this but I would like to know from anyone who has previously attended a D23 expo what are your thoughts/reflections.
Here are some of the pro/cons I have made about the pass.
Pro: Thursday night preview
Pro: The gifts/swag
Pro: No waiting in line
Pro: First access to items/collectables
Con: Price
Based on the pro/con list it would seem like going with the sorcerer's pass, but that Con is a large CON, especially given the fact that the price has increase one hundred percent since 2011.
As an experienced con goer I am used to waiting in lines but don't know how valuable/memorable are the other perks of the Sorcerer's pass.

My Guardians of the Galaxy take
So it has been a little over 16 hours since I have seen the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and I want to first off say that it is a great movie for the Marvel comics fan, Marvel movie fans, and for the general public.
One reason I believe this move is great is because it is an ensemble cast but the movie never spends too much time to play out the back stories for any one character but also provides enough information to identify with each character and understand their motivations for their actions. It is also a movie where you did not need to watch any of the previous Marvel movies because there was not any reference to them, minus the collector.
For the Marvel comics fan the Thanos reveal is worth the wait and builds so much anticipation for what Marvel studios has planned for the Mad Titan. Seeing Thanos sitting on his throne was pulled straight out off the pages of the comics and gave me genuine chills. Also in the scene with Thanos are the seeds being sowed for Nebula to do what comic readers know (I am not going to detail that as it may be spoilers for the non-comic reading fans out there. If there are people who do want to know but can't find a comic shop or a TPB anywhere, I have heard many good things about marvel unlimited). It was also great to see the Collector finally provide back story to the infinity gems... errr... stones which people can now go back and watch the first Captain America movie and the second Thor movie to truly understand the importance of the Cosmic Cube or Tesseract as well as the Aether.
The following comments and review are purely my own as I have no access to the plans that Marvel studios have in store. I will state that the following comments are coming from a comic fan and may contain spoilers so take your own discretion on reading the next paragraph.
I believe that some liberties were taken from the original stories of the comics to make the movie. I believe that Adam Warlock will be the father to Starlord, most to support the fact that Starlord was able to partially control the space gem... errr stone. It might sound crazy but like I said, just my belief. I also feel that they changed the story of Moondragon, making her the daughter of Rhomann Dey. As you watch the movie, twice an emphasis was placed on the blue eyes. I don't believe that was accidental. Also with the Collector's collection destroyed, I assume that the Tesseract and the Aether will somehow find it's way to Thanos as nothing was stated about the whereabouts of these two items. While I am glad to see that they showed Groot alive in his pot at the end of the movie, I was actually hoping that he would be perceived as dead but that the flower that he gave to the girl on Knowhere would be Groot reborn, but seeing Groot as a stick is still good. The only unknown regarding the infinity watch is Pip the Troll. I looked intently in the prison scene as well as the scenes on Xandar and Knowhere to see if an image of Pip was there and I could not find one. I will probably be watching the movie again but if anyone does spot Pip or hear of a mention of Pip I would like to know. Finally the end scene is possibly more revealing that just a "fun nostalgic scene" with Howard the Duck. Howard the Duck is an intergalactic being who had a part with the Defenders (consisting of Dr. Strange, someone who will have a movie made about him soon, The Hulk, someone already in the Marvel cinema universe, Namor, A character to which Marvel recently retained the rights, http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rights-Namor-Movie-Back-Marvel-Mostly-66323.html and The Silver Surfer, still within the Fantastic Four universe and under Fox Entertainment.) which makes me believe that the Defenders will be the next Major cross-over movie franchise that Marvel will attempt.
A few other small things to notice when watching this movie is when they are first captured, in Rocket's bio they list Lylla as a known accomplice. The reference made by Starload about ninja turtles is appropriate as he was abducted in 1988 and the turtles first appeared in 1984. And while not explicitly stated I believe that empathic powers were defined with every interaction he has in the movie.
Overall a great movie to end the summer but leaves a long wait until Avengers: The Age of Ultron hits theaters Until then, enjoy the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Carter, and Daredevil.
